Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar inducted Into ICC Hall Of Fame. Alongside the batting icon, former South African quick bowler and World Cup-winning Australian lady cricketer Cathryn Fitzpatrick were also inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, the world cricketing body reported.

It is a respect to be accepted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, which treasures the commitment of cricketers over ages. They have all added to the development and ubiquity of the game and I am glad to have done my bit,” Sachin Tendulkar said at the acceptance function held in London.

The 46-year-old previous right-hand batsman is viewed as the best to have made the showing alongside Sir Donald Bradman and remains the top run-collector in the two Tests and ODIs. He has 34,357 runs across formats and is the only batsman to have 100 internationals hundreds under his bet.

He expressed gratitude toward his family and mentor, who has bolstered him in his voyage in global cricket for near two and half decades.

“On this event, I might want to thank those who were close by over a long international career . My parents, sibling Ajit and spouse Anjali have been mainstays of solidarity while I was fortunate to have somebody like mentor Ramakant Achrekar as an early guide and coach,” the maestro said.

Tendulkar, the most productive batsman ever, was enlisted following getting to be qualified for acceptance, which necessitates that a player ought to have played his last universal match in any event five years prior. The 46-year-old previous right-hand batsman is respected the best to have made the showing alongside Sir Donald Bradman and remains the top run-aggregator in the two Tests and ODIs.

Sachin Tendulkar, who resigned in November 2013, counted 15,921 runs in Tests and 18,426 in ODIs, the two of which remain records. He is the 6th Indian to be enlisted into the ICC Hall Of Fame.

“I am likewise grateful to every one of my skippers, individual players and the BCCI and the MCA executives throughout the years for their help and for causing me to appreciate the game such a great amount of and for such a long time. I thank the ICC for this energy about my cricket vocation and I am glad to take note of that cricket keeps on developing with three famous configurations.”

The 52-year-old Donald is probably the best bowler to have made the showing and had 330 Test and 272 ODI wickets surprisingly before throwing in the towel in 2003.

Fitzpatrick is the second most astounding wicket-taker ever in ladies’ cricket with 180 ODI scalps and 60 in Tests. As a mentor, she guided the Australian ladies’ group to three World Cup titles.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is unlikely to decide on the T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia until its annual board meeting in mid-July, leaving the Indian board waiting to know if it can try and stage the postponed Indian Premier League late this year.

ICC Board members met for a second time this month via video conference on Thursday, but the T20 World Cup, scheduled for October-November, was not taken up with only the timeline for the chairman’s election discussed. “There were good discussions on the chair process and it may be finalised in the next week or so,?said a source.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chairman Colin Graves is the front-runner to succeed the outgoing Shashank Manohar. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly could contest if he is forced into a cooling-off period as per the board’s constitution. BCCI has filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking to amend the rule that will enable Ganguly to complete a full three-year term.

After its previous board meeting a fortnight ago, ICC said it would “continue exploring a number of contingency plans?over the T20 World Cup 2020 “whilst planning for delivery of the event in the scheduled window is ongoing.?/p>

Cricket Australia has said pulling off the World Cup this year amid the pandemic is ‘unlikely?and ‘unrealistic? BCCI anxiously awaits a postponement so that it can try and utilise the window to stage IPL, a R4,000 crore-a-year property.

BCCI officials say even the broadcasters, who hold the rights for both T20 competitions, are keen that IPL finds a window this year.

21st June 1975: The West Indies were a dominant force in the World Cups in the 1970s before India pulled off an upset to beat them in the 1983 final.

It all started on this day in 1975 at Lord’s when Clive Lloyd led West Indies to victory at the inaugural Cricket World Cup – then known as the Prudential Cup.

Lloyd made the difference in the final with a stunning 102 off 85 balls to shepherd his side to a 17-run victory, and claim the first World Cup trophy.

The West Indies would go on to retain the trophy four years later, this time with a big triumph over England in London again. They have not won the tournament since.

The Aussies led by Ian Chappell asked the Windies to bat first. They put up a stiff 291/8 in 60 overs and in reply, the Aussies were all out for 274 in 58.4 overs. Chappell scored 62.

The tournament was played just four years after the one-day format had been introduced. Stadiums were full and the competition was a success paving the way for World Cups in cricket in the future.

Eight teams took part in the tournament, including a team from East Africa which replaced South Africa due to the anti-apartheid boycott.

India could only win one game, that too against minnows East Africa. In that tournament, Sunil Gavaskar played the infamous innings of 36 off 174 balls. The team finished fifth out of the total eight participating teams. Arch-rivals finished below India on sixth position. Both teams won one game each.
