India vs Australia, 3rd ODI: Live scores: Team India is eyeing a maiden bilateral One-Day International (ODI) series triumph on Australian soil.

The three-match series is level at 1-1 after Australia won the first ODI in Sydney by 34 runs and India won the second in Adelaide by six wickets.

The Men in Blue have never won a bilateral ODI contest on Australian soil, and their only two series’ wins in this format have come in 1985 (World Championship of Cricket) and 2008 (CB Series).

In fact, this is only the second bilateral ODI series India have played in Australia, losing 4-1 in 2016 when they toured here last.

Also, by winning this third ODI in Melbourne, India will finish the current 2018-19 tour without having lost a series here. They have previously drawn the T20I series 1-1, and then went on to record a historic first-ever Test series win here by a 2-1 margin.

Follow live updates & scores of India vs Australia, 3rd ODI here:

1. TOSS: Kohli opts to bowl in 3rd ODI

In the series decider third ODI between India and Australia, captain Kohli wins toss, opts to bowl at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

2. 3rd ODI: Playing XIs

India XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (wk), Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami.Changes: Three changes for India as Yuzi, Jadhav and Shankar come in for Kuldeep, Rayudu and Siraj.

Australia XI: Aaron Finch (c), Alex Carey (wk), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Peter Siddle, Adam Zampa, Billy StanlakeChanges: The hosts had announced their XI on the eve of the match, like always. Zampa in for Lyon, while back soreness has ruled out fast bowler Behrendorff. Stanlake returns in place of the left-armer.

3. Delayed start?

Looks like we might have a delayed start today. The covers are on. It is raining at the MCG, not the sign we want ahead of a series decider

4. 3rd ODI: Rain stops play

After a bit delayed start, the play finally goes underway as Bhuvneshwar Kumar begins the proceedings for India. Two balls are bowled before the rain returns! The players are running off the field, the covers are being rushed in, super quick work from the ground staff, impressive!

According to the latest info from the MCG, the rain is not heavy so we are still hopeful of some action soon. India 1 for 0 (Overs 0.2)

5. 3rd ODI: Play resumes at MCG

Play resumes at the MCG as the rain stops. Bhuvi continues his first over and we have a massive appeal just second ball after the rain break. The umpire is not interested maybe because of the height.

Two balls later, Finch survives as his thick inside edge falls short of the first slip. He clearly is not in form and these rain breaks are not making his case any easier. Australia need their skipper to lead from the front today in the series decider, big test for Finch as a batsman.
Australia 27 for 2 (Overs 9)

6. OUT! Carey and Finch

In the fifth ball of the third over, Bhuvi bowls a short ball to Alex Carey, who goes on the backfoot trying to defend it but ends up sending a thick outside edge to Kohli at the second slip. The Indian skipper dives forward to complete a low catch, great start for the visitors. Carey out for 5 off 11 balls and finch out for 14 off 24 balls.

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul on Tuesday gave their statements to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, initiating the inquiry into their much-condemned comments on women that have split the Committee of Administrators (CoA).

It is learnt that both players deposed via telephone after having tendered unconditional apologies in reply to the fresh show cause notices issued by the BCCI.

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, suspended for their controversial comments during a TV chat show, have already tendered “unconditional” apologies on Monday. Both cricketers are in danger of getting long bans or suspensions as BCCI is trying to decide how the inquiry into the latest controversy should be conducted.

Despite the apologies tendered by the duo, 10 BCCI units demanded a Special General Meeting to appoint an ombudsman for carrying out an inquiry.

The call came after an evident difference of opinion in the Committee of Administrators (CoA) with regards to the action to be taken in the inquiry against suspended India players Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. While CoA chief Vinod Rai has instructed the CEO to conduct an inquiry, Diana Edulji wants an inquiry done by CoA and the BCCI office-bearers.

Brought back midway from the tour of Australia, Pandya and Rahul’s immediate fate hangs in balance with the World Cup less than four months away. Rai, in an e-mail to Edulji, said that the “BCCI is not in the business of ending young careers”.

Rai justified Johri initiating the probe, citing the BCCI constitution. Edulji feels Johri, because of past allegations of sexual harassment against him, should not be entrusted with the task.

If the inquiry takes too long then they miss out on playing in IPL 2019 and even 2019 World Cup. BCCI has charged both players for misconduct and indiscipline and given them seven days to explain.

Hardik Pandya has been heavily criticised on social media for remarks that have been widely condemned as sexist and inappropriate made on the show where he appeared with Rahul. Pandya had boasted about hooking up with multiple women and being open about it with his parents during the interview. Rahul was, however, a shade more restrained in his responses.

The comments sparked a massive social media outrage with calling the remark ‘crass’ and ‘sexist’. It prompted the Indian cricket board to issue show cause notice to the duo.

Here’s all you need to know about the controversy and its fallout:

1. Hardik Pandya, appear on TV show

Cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul appeared on a celebrity chat show, hosted by film-maker Karan Johar, together. The show aired on TV last Sunday and featured Pandya and Rahul talking about their relationships, crushes, favourite movies, actors and actresses.

2. Virat better than Sachin?

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul enraged some Indian fans when they chose Virat Kohli over Sachin Tendulkar when asked to choose the better batsman among the two. This irked fans of the veteran cricketer. Several Sachin fans took to social media to slam the duo for their choice

3. Hardik Pandya’s controversial comments

However, Hardik Pandya triggered the more serious outrage on social media with comments about women. On the show, Hardik Pandya boasted about hooking up with multiple women and even spoke about how open he is with his parents. Hardik Pandya revealed that he even informed his parents that he lost his virginity by telling them, “Aaj mai kar ke aaya.”When asked why he didn’t ask women their name in a club, Pandya responded by saying, “I like to watch and observe how they (women) move. I’m little from the black side so I need to see how they move.”

4. Hardik Pandya faces social media outrage

Hardik Pandya’s remarks were criticised as sexist, crass and cringeworthy. The allrounder was slammed on Twitter for “objectifying women?and being “unapologetically misogynistic? Several people on social media people called out Pandya, Rahul and Karan Johar for the misogyny displayed on the show.

5. Hardik Pandya issues apology for his comments

As the outrage grew louder, Pandya took to Twitter to apologise for his comments, saying he got “carried away by the nature” of the show. “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect,” Pandya posted on Twitter.

6. BCCI issues notice to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BBCI), however, was not satisfied with the apology. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) sent show cause notices to both the players hours after Pandya issued his apology on Twitter. The duo have been given 24 hours to reply to the notices.

According to a source, Pandya’s comments might have a bearing on whether Indian cricketers appear on “such non-cricket shows” after this. “It will be considered whether players should even be allowed to appear on such shows which have got nothing to do with cricket,” a BCCI source told PTI

7. Hardik Pandya offers ‘regrets’ in response to BCCI show cause

Hardik Pandya later offered “regrets” in response to the showcause notice from BCCI. However, it was regret and not apology was what Pandya offered in his reply. He also vowed never to repeat the behaviour.”I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful,” stated Pandya’s response, “I would like to assure you that there was no malice or any sort of ill-intent on my part to offend anyone or portray any section of the society in bad light,” he added.

8. Vinod Rai recommends 2-match ban for Pandya, Rahul

Hardik Pandya’s apology did not go down well with CoA chief Vinod Rai and he recommended a two-ODI ban for both Pandya and KL Rahul. According to the e-mail written by Rai to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, the comments made by the cricketers were “very crass?”I am not convinced with Hardik’s explanation and I have recommended a two-match ban for both players. However the final decision will be taken once Diana gives her go ahead,” Rai told PTI. Fellow CoA member Diana Edulji has already referred the matter to BCCI’s legal cell

9. Pandya, Rahul comments not supported by team, says Virat Kohli

India captain Virat Kohli condemned the comments made by Pandya and Rahul, calling them “inappropriate”  and not supported by their team mates. “From the Indian cricket team point of view, any inappropriate comments that are made in that scenario are something that we definitely don’t support,” Kohli told reporters on Friday ahead of the first one-dayer against Australia.

10. Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul suspended pending inquiry

Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul were suspended on Friday pending an inquiry ruling them out of the ODI series against Australia. CoA chairman Vinod Rai confirmed the suspension. A source in the BCCI said the two will be issued fresh show cause notices before a formal enquiry begins. The Indian team management is expected to take a call on whether they would want to keep the two with the team or send them back.

11. Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul suspended from all forms of cricket

KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya have been suspended pending an inquiry. The length of their suspensions is not known, but the duo look set to miss the one-day international series in Australia starting on Saturday and a limited-overs tour of New Zealand.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) asked the pair to explain the comments and Pandya apologised but after considering their reply, the BCCI decided to charged both players for misconduct and indiscipline. “The duo is now called upon to provide an explanation as to why they should not be proceeded against for misconduct and indiscipline under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution within a period of 7 (seven) days,” the BCCI said in a statement.

12. Diana Edulji objects to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri doing preliminary inquiry

On Saturday, CoA member Diana Edulji objected to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri doing the preliminary inquiry in the matter as there are sexual allegations levied on him. Edulji wrote in a letter, “In view of the grave sexual allegations levied on the CEO, it wouldn’t be justified if he conducts the inquiry. Its bad optics and the CoA will be criticized for it?

13. Vinod Rai wants quick inquiry, Diana Edulji fears cover up

The two-member Committee of Administrators (CoA) is yet again divided and this time on how the inquiry into the latest controversy should be conducted. CoA chief Vinod Rai has proposed a quick inquiry into much-criticised comments made by suspended cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul but Diana Edulji fears it will be construed as a “cover up?job.

14. Will Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul miss World Cup, IPL 2019?

If the inquiry takes too long or they get long bans then Pandya and Rahul are in danger of missing out on IPL 2019 and even 2019 World Cup. However, Diana Edulji said if that was the case then ‘so be it’. “Nobody is bigger than the game. Nobody is bigger than the institution.,?she was quoted as saying by The Mumbai Mirror.

15. Old video of Virat Kohli calling a girl ‘ugly’ resurfaces

An old video of Indian skipper Virat Kohli has resurfaced on the internet which has got many people to talk about the comments he made.In the video, Kohli was asked about the quickest date he has ever had to which the captain replied, “I actually went on a blind date which ended in about five minutes. I saw the girl and I ran away.”When asked why he ran away, Kohli very proudly replied saying, “She was ugly?/p>

16. Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul offer apology, BCCI members call for SGM

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, suspended for their controversial comments during a TV chat show, tendered “unconditional” apologies on Monday.

17. Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul give statements to BCCI CEO

The inquiry into Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s much-condemned comments on women began on Tuesday as the duo gave their statements to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri. It is learnt that both players deposed via telephone after having tendered unconditional apologies in reply to the fresh show cause notices issued by the BCCI. This is just a preliminary probe as the decision over the main inquiry is yet to be taken.

India vs Australia, 2nd ODI: Live scores and full commentary

Hardik Pandya’s sudden suspension on disciplinary grounds has badly affected the balance of the batting order, which was apparent during team’s 34-run defeat in the opening match despite vice-captain

Rohit Sharma’s 22nd hundred in 50-over format.

Dhoni’s 51 off 96 balls and failing to rotate the strike has brought to focus the rejigging that skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri will have to fret upon.

With Dhoni being slotted at No 5 even though vice-captain Rohit wants the veteran to bat a notch higher but cues from India’s training session made it clear that the team is unlikely to tinker with the batting order.

Follow live updates & scores of 2nd ODI here:

1. Do-or-die match for Team India

After losing the Test series, hosts bounced back in style as they defeated dominant India in the opening match of the three-ODI series on Saturday to take a 1-0 lead.

Keeping in mind that the World Cup is around the corner, Kohli will want to win the ODI series as well Down Under to make a statement that they are one of the favourites to lift the trophy along with England, the hosts of the multi-nation tournament.

2. IND XI: Siraj makes his ODI debut

India make one change for thre 2nd ODI: Mohammed Siraj makes his ODI debut as he comes in for Khaleel Ahmed.India XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Ambati Rayudu, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.

3. AUS XI: Hosts go unchanged

Meanwhile, the Aussies have gone unchanged after winning the first ODI.Australia XI: Aaron Finch (c), Alex Carey (wk), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Nathan Lyon, Peter Siddle, Jason Behrendorff

4. TOSS: India put to bowl first

Aussie skipper Aaron Finch wins the toss, opts to bat in the 2nd ODI at the Adelaide Oval.”We are gonna bat first mate. Looks like a good wicket to bat, don’t think it’ll change much throughout.

We played a really good game the other day. I think it’s a good chance to put some pressure on with a good score. It’s always good to play against a world class outfit and improve as a team leading into the next phase of the year,” Finch said. Meanwhile, even Virat Kohli wanted to bat first had he won the toss. “We would have batted first as well, looks a great wicket to play on.

The conditions are going to be a big factor for us as it’s hot and humid. We were a bit scratchy at Sydney, just to get the one side together. We can’t take Australia lightly in Australia. We like to be in these situations where we get to bounce back as a team. Mohammad Siraj makes his debut today, Khaleel Ahmed makes way for him,” the Indian skipper said.

5. Bhuvi to open India’s attack

Aussie openers Aaron Finch and Alex Carey are at the crease and fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar to open the bowling for India. Decent beginning for India as Bhuvi gives away just three runs in the first over. Mohammed Shami with the ball from the other end.

Australia vs India 2018-19: 2nd ODI, Adelaide: Kohli’s men will now look to bounce back when they take on the hosts in the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Tuesday, January 15.

Both teams have played 119 ODIs against each other with the Aussies leading the head-to-head race by a 74-45 margin. In the five matches played at Adelaide, the visitors have emerged victorious on just one occasion.

In their previous meeting at this venue in February 2012, after electing to bat first, the hosts were unable to put pressure on the tourists as they managed 269/8 in their quota of 50 overs. Gautam Gambhir helped India to win the game by four wickets.

How to watch India vs Australia 2nd ODI Live

The India vs Australia series will be telecast live on the Sony Sports Network. You can also stream the Ind vs Aus 2nd ODI live on CrickeX Live Streaming

India

The Men in Blue went into this series on the back of 3-1 ODI series win against West Indies. The visitors continued with same enthusiasm from where they left off in that series and were very much in the game until the first half of the game. Though they had a disaster start to their reply losing first three wickets inside three overs. But with Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni on the crease things were still in India’s favor. But things changed drastically in 33rd over as MS was given LBW of Behrendorff, which certainly proved to be a turning point of the game.

Batting

Rohit Sharma struck a well constructed 133 runs in the first ODI against Australia. The opener has been in decent form since Asia Cup and will once again be their main weapon against the Aussies.

MS Dhoni once again was their star performer in the middle with a steady half-century and former Skipper once again proved why he is considered as the master of cricket, who knows how to use different tactics for different situations.

Except these two, India will also bank on the likes of skipper Virat Kohli, who didn’t have a memorable day in the first ODI outfit. He along with Shikhar Dhawan will be eager to make a mark in the second one.

Bowling

Khaleel Ahmad was quite expensive and failed to get any wicket in the previous match and one might see him make way for Yuzvendra Chahal or Siddharth Kaul in the next game. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the lot with figures of 2/54 and he will once again be their go-to man against the opponents. While Bhuvaneshwar Kumar too snared a couple of wickets and him along with Mohammad Shami and Ravindra Jadeja will be expected to rattle the opponents next time out.

Expected Playing XI

Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu/Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja (AR), MS Dhoni (W), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Australia

The victory at Sydney was Australia’s third win in last 23 games and they will be much-relieved after the end of last game. They know that the series is not over yet and there are still a lot of areas which they need to polish before going into the next ODI.

Batting

Peter Handscomb was the pick of the lot with his quickfire innings of 73 runs in 61 balls against India. His middle-order partner and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis hit 47 runs from 43 balls. Both these batsmen along with Shaun Marsh (54 runs from 70 balls) are the core of their middle order and are once again expected to cause problems for the Indian bowlers.

The team will also bank on the likes of Alex Carey and Usman Khawaja, who have ignited a new hope in the camp and these two will be expected to make a path for the middle order to follow. Though their only concern was skipper Aaron Finch, who has not been in best of form in recent times and he will be eager to get back to form in the second ODI.

Bowling

Jhye Richardson was the pick of the bowlers in the first game with economical and career-best figures of 4/26 in four overs. He was well supported by Behrendorff and Marcus Stoinis who took 2/39 and 2/66 in ten overs respectively. These three will be expected to deliver in the upcoming fixture as well.

Expected Playing XI

Aaron Finch (C), Alex Carey (W), Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Marcus Stoinis (AR), Glenn Maxwell, Nathan Lyon, Peter Siddle, Jhye Richardson, and Jason Behrendorff.

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul suspended from all types of cricket pending an investigation into their dubious remarks on an as of late broadcast TV appear.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) that is administering the working of the BCCI has sent new show-cause notification to the players, approaching them for a reaction inside seven days “regarding why they ought not be continued against for wrongdoing and indiscipline under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution”.

The pair will return to India and miss the remainder of the Australia tour and the upcoming limited-overs tour of New Zealand.

“You know that the enquiry and procedures against you for unfortunate behavior and indiscipline have been started under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution and the equivalent are by and by pending.

“As far as Rule 41(6) of the BCCI Constitution, you are thus suspended with prompt impact from taking part in any issue at all in any match or capacity or occasion or movement that is approved, composed, endorsed, perceived or upheld in any capacity by the BCCI, the ICC or any State Association, until conclusive mediation of the issue.”

The CoA has accepted the suggestion of the BCCI’s lawful group that Pandya and Rahul be suspended pending a request. This was the method the BCCI pursued when its CEO Rahul Johri confronted lewd behavior claims last October.

The proposal has the help of the CoA part Diana Edulji, a previous India ladies chief, and the BCCI’s acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary,

“In view of the legitimate assessment and till the time the last methodology is set down to address this issue, will prescribe that a correspondence be sent to the concerned players and the group promptly,” Edulji said because of the lawful group’s email on Friday morning, which has been gotten to by ESPNcricinfo.

“It will be basic that the players be put under suspension till a further strategy is chosen for this offense as was done on account of CEO when he was sent on leave in the lewd behavior matter.”

Choudhary concurred with Edulji’s view in a different email.

In answer to the principal demonstrate cause see issued by the BCCI prior this week, both Pandya and Rahul had apologized for their direct.

Both Pandya and Rahul have been a piece of India’s training sessions in Sydney paving the way to Saturday’s first ODI. On Friday, India skipper Virat Kohli said their remarks were not satisfactory.

This most recent debate, coming promptly in the wake of India’s triumph in the Test arrangement in Australia, has indeed part the BCCI and the CoA. Vinod Rai, the CoA director, had at first prescribed a two-coordinate suspension for the players, while Anirudh Chaudhry, the BCCI treasurer, had called for stricter approvals. Acting secretary Choudhary needed the match suspended “promptly”.

At Edulji’s command, the BCCI’s legitimate group gave its contributions with regards to the route forward, and whether and how the players could be charged under the board’s new constitution, which became effective in August 2018. The lawful group precluded charging Pandya and Rahul for damaging the BCCI’s Code of Conduct, which applies entirely to on-field activities.

According to the new BCCI constitution, the ability to authorize players for indiscipline or unfortunate behavior is to rest with the BCCI’s Apex Council. The constitution indicates that the BCCI CEO look for a clarification from the players through an underlying show-cause see and the CEO’s report is to be sent by the Apex Council to an Ombudsman, who figures out what sanctions are official.

The BCCI, pending crisp races, does not have either an Apex Council or an Ombudsman. The lawful group has proposed that the CoA, as the approved leader of the BCCI at present, could substitute for the Apex Council. The lawful group likewise brought up that CEO Rahul Johri’s underlying show-influence notification to Pandya and Rahul had excluded explicit principles under which the combine could be charged subject to a request.
